China-Russia Alignment
What is the nature of Sino-Russian alignment, and what have been its main drivers and evolution since 1949? How and why has the nature and degree of China–Russia military alignment changed? Which factors have had the greatest influence on the relationship?
Current efforts trace the evolution of China-Russia military alignment from 1949 to the present day and apply a framework distinguishing great-power alignments vs. great-power–junior-partner ties and analyze cases (Sino-Soviet, DPRK–China–Soviet, and the contemporary triangle) and their drivers.
